Fourth of July Flag Sheet Cake

Ingredients
2 recipes White Sheet Cake
Cream Cheese Frosting

1 1/2 pints fresh raspberries

Directions
Trim any rough edges from cakes using a serrated knife. Place four strips of parchment paper around the perimeter of a serving platter. Place first layer, bottom side up, on serving platter. Using an offset spatula, spread cake with 2 1/2 cups frosting. Top with remaining layer, bottom side up. Spread entire cake with 5 1/2 cups frosting. Place remaining frosting in a large pastry bag fitted with a star tip (such as Ateco #35). Remove parchment paper strips.

Using the tip of a toothpick, outline the shape of a flag on the cake. Fill the upper left-hand corner with a single layer of blueberries. Place one row of raspberries across upper edge of cake to form first red stripe. Pipe one row of stars just below raspberries to form first white stripe. Repeat process with remaining raspberries and frosting until you have 7 red and 6 white stripes.

White paint
Small paintbrush or star stamp

5. Attach the 7 short strips to the bottom of the blue square. Thread 4 paper clips through the holes at the top of the blue square.
6. Slide all the pieces onto the wooden skewer to form the flag, then attach a piece of ribbon or wire to the ends of the skewer as shown. Attach a bell to the clip on each strip and let your colors fly.

Fourth of July Twirlers

CRAFT MATERIALS:
Plastic coffee can lids
Marker
Scissors
String

1. To make one, use a nail to poke a hole in the center of a plastic coffee can lid.

2. With a marker, draw a spiral that starts 3/8 inch from the hole and gradually extends to the rim, then cut along the line with scissors.

3. Knot an end of a piece of string, thread the other end up through the hole in the center, and the twirler is ready to hang up and spin.
Tips: To spin, grasp each one at the bottom, twirl it around and around until the string is wound tight, let go and enjoy the show.

2. Make waxed paper cone liners by folding six 12-inch square sheets into triangles, wrapping each around a sugar cone, and using tape to hold the shape. Then place the paper cones inside the sugar cones.

3. Fill each cone with 1 tablespoon red yogurt, followed by 2 tablespoons white yogurt, then 3 tablespoons blue yogurt. Insert a Popsicle stick and freeze the pops until firm, about 4 hours, using the cone box to keep them upright.

Frosty Fireworks

Fourth of July is by treating your kids to tall glasses of Patriot's Punch.

RECIPE INGREDIENTS:

7 or so large bananas
Lemon juice

The Real Christine Collins

Christine Collins came from work, and found out her son Walter Collins went missing. She called the police right away. but they told her she had to file a missing persons report in 24 hours because most kids come back.

Five months of investigation, with the police had nothing to show. They tell her they have found her son. When the police “returned” a boy to Ms. Collins that was not Walter, she said, “That's not my son”. The police responded by telling Ms. Collins that, because of the months-long trauma that she had endured, her memory was likely failing her. She does as told by the LAPD and takes the boy home, still insisting its not her son.

She collected documents from dentists, doctors and friends that stated that the boy was most definitely not Walter Collins, but the police department refused to help her.The police was getting tired of Ms.Collins, so they decided to locked her up into a mental institution, for her to go away. When she finally gets out she learn about what is now called the "chicken coop murders."

The police had no idea what was going on in Wineville at the time until Canadian Sandford Clark was picked up by police for staying in the states too long. He alerted them to the fact that his cousin Gordon Northcott was kidnapping boys, molesting them, murdering them and dismembering their bodies on his chicken ranch, and that he had threatened Sandford, telling him he would kill him if he tried to leave the ranch. He also forced Sandford to help him murder the children that they kidnapped together, using Sandford to lure other children into his truck. Sandford led the LAPD to the buried remains of some of the children, claiming that he helped Gordon murder around 20 children, but that he couldn't be sure of an exact number because he had stopped counting.

The remains of Walter Collins were never found and no traces of him were ever found in the Wineville Chicken Coops. The boy that was given to her was a runaway found in DeKalb, Illinois, but he was originally a runaway from Iowa and confessed that his name was really Arthur Hutchins and that he had pretended to be Walter Collins hoping that Christine Collinswould pay his way to California and give him free room and board until he could meet the cowboy star Tom Mix.

In 1935 one boy who was presumed dead finally surfaced and told police that he had escaped along with Walter Collins and one other boy, but that they had split up and he had not seen Walter Collins since. Gordon Northcott was charged with three counts of first-degree murder for the deaths. He was hanged for his crimes on October 2nd, 1930.

Although Christine Collins never found her son, her case changed the LAPD and several laws forever. Because of her fight police can no longer throw someone into a hospital without a warrant, and the corruption of the LAPD at the time was exposed to the public. She later sued the police officer who committed her to the hospital for false imprisonment and won, but he never paid her the $10,800 that he owed her.

Christine Collins was a fighter and never gaved up, she stayed hopeful until the day she died.

Thriller lyrics

Thriller lyrics
Songwriters: Temperton, Rod;
It's close to midnight and something evil's lurking in the darkUnder the moonlight, you see a sight that almost stops your heartYou try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make itYou start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyesYou're paralyzed'

Cause this is thriller, thriller nightAnd no one's gonna save you from the beast about strikeYou know it's thriller, thriller nightYou're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller tonight

You hear the door slam and realize there's nowhere left to runYou feel the cold hand and wonder if you'll ever see the sunYou close your eyes and hope that this is just imagination, girl! But all the while you hear the creature creeping up behindYou're out of time'

Cause this is thriller, thriller night There ain't no second chance against the thing with forty eyes, girlThriller, thriller nightYou're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller tonight

Night creatures calling, the dead start to walk in their masqueradeThere's no escaping the jaws of the alien this time(They're open wide)This is the end of your life

They're out to get you, there's demons closing in on every sideThey will possess you unless you change that number on your dialNow is the time for you and I to cuddle close together, yeahAll through the night I'll save you from the terror on the screenI'll make you see

That this is thriller, thriller night' Cause I can thrill you more than any ghost would ever dare tryThriller, thriller nightSo let me hold you tight and share a Killer, diller, chiller, thriller here tonight'

Cause this is thriller, thriller nightGirl, I can thrill you more than any ghost would ever dare tryThriller, thriller nightSo let me hold you tight and share a killer, thriller, ow!

(I'm gonna thrill ya tonight)Darkness falls across the landThe midnight hour is close at handCreatures crawl in search of bloodTo terrorize y'alls neighborhood

I'm gonna thrill ya tonight, ooh babyI'm gonna thrill ya tonight, oh darlin'Thriller night, baby, ooh!
The foulest stench is in the airThe funk of forty thousand yearsAnd grizzly ghouls from every tombAre closing in to seal your doom
And though you fight to stay aliveYour body starts to shiverFor no mere mortal can resistThe evil of the thriller

Jackson 5

The Jackson 5 were one of the biggest phenomenons in pop music during the early '70s, and the last great group. The Jackson 5's infectious brand of funky pop-soul was a definite departure from the typically smooth, elegant Motown sound, as befitting the group's youth and the dawn of a new decade.
Originally, the Jackson 5 were composed of brothers Jackie (born Sigmund Jackson, May 4, 1951), Tito (guitar, born Toriano Jackson, October 15, 1953), Jermaine (bass, lead vocals, born December 11, 1954), Marlon (born March 12, 1957), and Michael (lead vocals, born August 29, 1958).
In 1966, the Jackson 5 won an important local talent competition with a Michael-led rendition of the Temptations' "My Girl." In 1967, the group won an amateur talent competition at Harlem's legendary Apollo Theater.

'King Of Pop' Michael Jackson RIP 1958-2009

Michael Jackson died at the age of 50. He collapsed at his residence in the Holmby Hills section of Los Angeles, California, suffering cardiac arrest, according to brother Randy Jackson. He died at UCLA Medical Center. Lt. Fred Corral of the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office said an autopsy would probably be done on the singer Friday, with results expected that afternoon.
Jackson was rehearsing hard for what was to be his greatest comeback: He was scheduled for an unprecedented 50 shows at a London arena, His 1982 album "Thriller" — which included the blockbuster hits "Beat It," "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" — is the best-selling album of all time, with an estimated 50 million copies sold worldwide.

Homemade Play Dough Recipe

Check out Jolly Mom Crafts Ideas:

How To Make Your Own Play Dough
Ingredients:
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
1 tblsp oil
1 tblsp cream of tartar
1/2 cup water

Essential oils for scented play dough (a few drops)
DyesDirections:

Bring the water to a boil. While the water is coming to a boil, place all of the other ingredients into your mixer's bowl. Slowly add the boiling water with your mixer on medium-low speed. You can turn the speed up to medium when all of the water is in the bowl. When the mixture balls up, it is done! Just take it out and knead the dough a little bit.

Variations:
Substitute apple juice for the water and add a little cinnamon to the dry ingredients for "apple pie" play dough.Boil some blueberries in a little water and use the strained liquid (in place of some of the water) to dye your play dough. You can do this with carrots, spinach, and other fruits and veggies. You can also use spices like paprika to color your play dough.

**For organic play dough, just use organic flour rather than plain white flour and make sure that you use natural dyes.**

Happy Fathers Day!!

Happy Father's Day
A Dad is a personwho is loving and kind,
And often he knowswhat you have on your mind.
He's someone who listens, suggests, and defends.
A dad can be one of your very best friends!
He's proud of your triumphs,
but when things go wrong,
A dad can be patient
and helpful and strong
In all that you do,
a dad's love plays a part.
There's always a place for him
deep in your heart.
And each year that passes,
you're even more glad,
More grateful and proudjust to call him your dad!
Thank you, Dad...for listening and caring,
for giving and sharing,
but, especially, for just being you!
Happy Father's Day

Father's Day Poems

The things you taught me
The things you taught me I will always know.
How could I not? The roots have sunk so deep:
All lessons of the heart that I will keep
No matter who I am or where I go.
Kids learn from what their parents are, and so
You are my book of life, the thoughts I reap;
Only in your arms I quiet sleep;
Under my words your voice sings soft and slow.
From you I learned the rules of right and wrong
Against which I at times had to rebel,
Though with regret I carry with me still.
How lucky I am to have been loved so well,
Even as I pushed against your will,Relying on a father fair and strong

A Little Girl Needs Daddy

A little girl needs DaddyFor many, many things:
Like holding her high off the ground
Where the sunlight sings!
Like being the deep music
That tells her all is right
When she awakens frantic with
The terrors of the night.

Like being the great mountain
That rises in her heart
And shows her how she might get home
When all else falls apart.

Like giving her the love
That is her sea and air,
So diving deep or soaring high
She'll always find him there.
