stay away from bath toys with holes, as they are likely to have mold. Tomorrow I'm going to throw away the dukies!
Scrubbing toys weekly
Disinfect washable colorfast plastic toys with regular bleach
Dust mites, place stuffed toys in the freezer for at least a few hours. Great idea I learned something new today!

One of my new years resolutions was to return back to college, and I finally did it yay!! I am very happy with my decision, because I could provide a better future for my son. I have been so busy with homework and being a full time mommy. I have not had a chance to blog or work on new degins for my background. My little one is at preschool during the day, but he gets sick a lot. I guess too much germs ewww... he has come a long way.

Cardboard tissue tubes
Colored paper Fine-tipped markers

Instructions
For each figure, wrap a cardboard tissue tube with a 4- by 6-inch rectangle of colored paper and glue the paper in place.
Draw the facial features on a 2- by 3-inch piece of paper with markers. Glue the face onto the tube.
For the hair, cut fringe along one side of a small paper rectangle. Roll the hair around a pen to make curls, trim it, and glue it into place.
Cut and decorate headbands and feathers for the Native Americans and collars for the Pilgrims.
For the Pilgrim girl's bonnet, wrap a 2- by 5-inch paper rectangle around the top of the tube with the ends overlapping and glue at the back.
For the Pilgrim boy's hat, cut out a black circle 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Roll and glue a black, 2- by 5-inch paper rectangle into a tube shape. Cut slits along one end, fold in the tabs, and glue them to the center of the paper circle. Add a 1/2-inch band and square buckle and glue the hat to the boy's head.

Cocktail pumpernickel bread
Vegetable cream cheese

DECORATIONS:
Peas (eyes)
Red pepper
Pepperoni
Cheese

Instructions

For each sandwich, spread vegetable cream cheese between 2 slices of cocktail pumpernickel bread.
For the head, use a small drinking glass or round cookie cutter to cut a circle from another slice of bread, then stick it to the top of the sandwich with a dab of cream cheese.
Likewise, add facial features such as pea eyes, a red pepper or pepperoni snood (above the beak), and a pepper, cheese, or cashew beak. Finally, wedge pepper, slivered-almond, or parsley-sprig feathers between the bread slices.

Ingredients

Cookies (ours were about 2 1/2 inches in diameter)
White frosting
Assorted sugar wafers (ours were about 2 1/2 inches long)
Candy corn
Mini chocolate chips
Bran cereal (we used Kellogg's All-Bran Extra Fiber)
Chocolate sprinkles

Instructions

Frost the top of each cookie.

Cut a sugar wafer in half. Add a dollop of frosting to the top edge of the cookie and stick a wafer half to it for a hat top, as shown.
Place a whole sugar wafer just below the hat top for a brim. Use a little more frosting to decorate it with slices of candy corn or mini chocolate chips.

Press pieces of bran cereal hair into the frosting around the hat.
For the face, press on a candy corn nose, mini chocolate chip eyes, and a chocolate sprinkle stitched mouth.

Ingredients

1 egg
1 teaspoon of water
Prepared pie crust
Mini chocolate chips
Peanut butter chips
Raw sugar
Flour for work surface

Instructions

Heat the oven to 375°. Whisk one egg with a teaspoon of water and set it aside.
On a floured surface, roll out a prepared pie crust so it's about 1/8-inch thick. Use a large leaf-shaped cookie cutter (ours is 4 1/2-inches wide) to make as many dough leaf pairs as possible.
For each pocket, spread about 4 teaspoons of mini chocolate chips and peanut butter chips on a leaf, leaving a 1/2-inch margin at the edge. Brush egg wash onto the edge, place a second leaf on top, and press the edges to seal.
Brush the top with egg wash and sprinkle it generously with raw sugar. Bake the leaves on a parchment-covered cookie sheet until their edges are just beginning to brown, about 12 minutes. Let them rest on the sheet a few minutes before moving them to a cooling rack.

I love to make Turkey Cupcakes every Thanksgiving they look cute and fun to make.

Ingredients

Cupcake
Chocolate frosting
3 oval shortbread cookies (Keebler Sandies Right Bites Shortbread)
6 to 10 candy corn pieces
White icing
Black decorators' gel
Red fruit leather ( strawberry Fruit by the Foot)

Instructions

Frost the cupcake, then press in a cookie head and 2 cookie wings.
Press in a row or two of candy corn tail feathers.

To make an eye, add a small dot of white icing to the head, then add a dot of black decorators' gel for a pupil.

For a beak, cut the white tip from a piece of candy corn and press it in place.

To make the wattle, cut a 1-inch square of fruit leather. Roll it into a tube and stick it in place over the beak.

Cheese sticks or slices

Instructions

Heat the oven to 350º F. For each mummy, spread a tablespoon of pizza sauce onto half of an English muffin (toast it first, if you like).
Set olive slices in place for eyes and add round slices of green onion or bits of red or green pepper for pupils.
Lay strips of cheese (we used a pulled-apart cheese stick) across the muffin for the mummy?s wrappings.
Bake for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the muffin is toasty.

Hot Dog Mummies

Ingredients

1 11-ounce can of refrigerator breadsticks
1 12-pack of hot dogs
Yellow mustard

Instructions

For each mummy, separate one breadstick from the roll and use kitchen shears or a knife to slice it in half lengthwise to create two thinner strips.
Wrap one strip at a time snugly around the hot dog. Depending on the size of the hot dog, you may not need all of both strips. Leave about 1/2 inch of hot dog exposed for the face area and continue wrapping the top of the hot dog.
Bake the mummies on a cookie sheet at 350º for 15 to 18 minutes or until the breadstick wrapping is golden brown.
Remove the mummies from the oven and cool them for 5 minutes. Add yellow mustard eyes just before serving. Makes 12 mummies.

Black paper fasteners (or brass fasteners colored with permanent black marker)
10-inch piece of string or dental floss
Short piece of ribbon
A bead (optional)

Instructions

Cut 1 body shape and 2 matching wing shapes from black craft foam, punching holes where indicated. Glue red sequins to the head for eyes.

To attach the wings to the body, align the hole farthest from the rounded end of each wing with a shoulder hole. Use black paper fasteners (or brass fasteners colored with permanent black marker) to loosely attach the wings to the back of the body, as shown.

Next, thread one end of a 10-inch piece of string or dental floss through the remaining wing holes and tie it in a loose loop, making sure the free end extends beyond the bat's head. Tie a bead to the end of the string, if you like.

Tie a piece of ribbon through the hole at the bottom of the bat, then hang him upside down on a wall or window. To make the bat's wings flap, pull the hanging string.

Handprint Wall Hanging

What you'll need:

3 sheets of felt in complimentary colors
2 sheet white paper
Scissors
Pencil
White craft glue
Black fine-tip marker
12” wooden dowel
18” yarn
6” ribbon
2-3 safety or stick pins

How to make it:
Use a pencil to trace your hand and your grandparent’s hand onto a white piece of paper.
Use scissors to cut the hand patterns out.
Use pins to secure child’s paper hand pattern to one of the pieces of felt. Cut around the pattern. Repeat this process with the larger hand pattern on another piece of felt.
Lay remaining sheet of felt on to the work surface. Position hands on top of the full sheet until you have them where you want them. Glue the hands in place.
Cut a 1.5” wide strip from the bottom of a piece of white paper (8.5” x 1.5”).
Use a black marker to write “Grandma’s Little Angel” or “Grandpa’s Little Buddy”. Glue the phrase above the hands; leave enough room at the top of the felt to fold over around the dowel (about 1”).
Turn felt over and glue dowel to the back, wrapping the top of the felt around the dowel. Hold in place for a few minutes to let glue grab.
Tie yarn to both ends of the dowel and join in the center at the top for a hanger.
Tie a piece of ribbon around the top end of the yarn hanger.

Tips:
To add a special touch to this keepsake, write the year on a small piece of paper and glue at the bottom between the hands.
Use a dark color for the background of your wall hanging and two contrasting colors for the hands.
If sending this as a gift to a distant grandparent, use one of your parent’s hands for the pattern. To ship, gently roll up your creation, insert into an empty, clean potato chip cylinder, wrap in brown craft paper and mail!

Chew on Your Pencil

Ingredients

Cheese sticks
1/2-inch-thick slices of bologna
Mustard
Bugles corn snacks
Raisins

Instructions

For each pencil, cut off one end of a cheese stick so that it's flat. Use a paring knife or apple corer to cut a 3/4-inch circle out of the bologna.
Dab one end of the circle into the mustard, then attach it to the flat end of the cheese stick.
Snap off the end of a Bugle so that its edges are even, and gently press it onto the other end of the cheese stick. Slide half a raisin onto the Bugle for the pencil tip, and you've got a snack that's just write!

PB & J Blossom Sandwiches

Ingredients

Bread
Peanut butter or cream cheese
Jelly or jam
Water bottle cap

Instructions

For each sandwich, cut two slices of bread into flower shapes with a cookie cutter.

Cut a hole in one of the slices by pressing a water bottle cap into the center.
Spread the peanut butter and jelly on the whole piece and place the slice with the hole on top.

Ingredients

bread
cheese
lunch meat
grape tomatoes
lettuce
pickles
olive

Instructions

Cut up cubes of bread, cheese, and lunch meat (we ordered 1/2-inch-thick slices of ham and turkey at the deli counter).
Slide the cubes onto a skewer with other foods your child likes, such as a grape tomato, a piece of lettuce, a pickle, or an olive.
Set out a side of mayo or mustard for dippin.

Two-Tone Sandwiches
Ingredients

2 slices of bread (one white and the other whole wheat, roughly the same size)
Cookie cutters, 1 large and 1 small (ours measure 3 1/4 inches for the hand and 1 1/2 inches for the heart)

Instructions

Set the 2 slices of bread on a cutting board. Cut out the centers of each with a large and a small cookie cutter.
Swap the center cutouts, so the wheat bread has a white bread design and the white has the wheat, then assemble your sandwich.

Blackboard Cupcakes
Ingredients

Yellow, green, and white frosting
Cupcakes
Red Skittles or M&M's
Small plastic bag
Rubber band or twist tie
Chocolate-covered graham crackers
White Good & Plenty candies

Instructions

Cover the cupcakes with yellow frosting and allow them to sit for an hour before decorating. Dab each red Skittle or M&M with a bit of green frosting for the apple's leaf, then set them aside.

Put a tablespoon or two of white frosting into a small plastic bag for piping. Cut a very small hole in a corner of the bag, twist the top of the bag closed, and secure it with a rubber band or twist tie. Piping the frosting gently out of the hole, write messages on the chocolate-covered graham crackers. Leave space at the bottom of the cookie, where it'll be stuck into the cupcake.

Cut a groove in the cupcake's frosting with a knife, then fit a blackboard into the groove. Add one Skittle or M&M apple and a piece of Good & Plenty chalk, as shown.

chicken breast
3 tbsp. chopped Fuji apple

Peanut Butter
1 tbsp. lite mayonnaise
2 tsp. honey
Iceberg lettuce

DIRECTIONS
1. Chop chicken meat and
fruit, mix in bowl.
2. Mix in peanut butter,
mayonnaise, and honey.
3. Spoon into open lettuce
leaf, roll, and serve

INGREDIENTS

2 cups Pillsbury BEST® All
Purpose Flour
2 tbsps. sugar
1 tsp. grated lemon peel
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 stick Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening Sticks
or 1/2 cup Crisco® All-Vegetable Shortening
1/4 cup cold water
1 large egg
1 tsp. white vinegar
2/3 cup Smucker's® Mango Jam
or 2/3 cup Smucker's® Peach Preserves
3 cups Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil
1/4 cup sugar
1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon

DIRECTIONS
1. COMBINE flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, lemon
peel and salt in large bowl. Cut in shortening with
pastry blender or two knives until fine crumbs
form. Beat water and egg in measuring cup. Stir
in vinegar. Mix into dry ingredients with fork until
evenly moistened.
2. ROLL out half of dough at a time on lightly floured
surface to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut with 3 1/2-inch
round cookie cutter. Place heaping teaspoon of
preserves in center of rounds. Moisten edges of
round with water. Fold in half. Seal edges with fork.
3. HEAT oil in 3-quart saucpan to 375°F. Fry 2
or 3 empañadas at a time for 1 to 2 minutes or
until golden brown, turning several times. Drain
on paper towels. Combine 1/4 cup sugar and
cinnamon in shallow bowl. Roll warm empañada
in sugar cinnamon mixture.

Makes: 18 to 20 empañadas
Preparation Time:
20 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
TIP: To bake in oven, heat oven to 375°F. Place
filled empañadas on cookie sheet. Brush with
milk. Sprinkle with sugar cinnamon mixture.

Enchiladas

Ingredients
Grapeseed oil (or another high smoke-point oil such as peanut or canola oil)
12 corn tortillas
1 medium onion, chopped
1 clove of garlic, minced
1 cup of salsa (Mild prepared salsa or make your own using cooked or canned tomatoes, roasted green chiles, onions, cilantro, oil and vinegar. Do not use salsa made with fresh, uncooked tomatoes for this dish.)
3 Tbsp of tomato paste
1 cup water
1 cup of canned crushed tomatoes (preferably fire roasted)
Olive oil
1 lb of jack cheese, mild cheddar or longhorn or any mild yellow cheese, grated
A handful of cilantro
1 cup of sour cream
Half a head of iceberg lettuce

Directions
1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2 In a large fry pan at high heat add 3 Tbsp of grapeseed oil. Add a tortilla to the pan. Cook for 2-3 seconds, lift up the tortilla with a spatula, add another tortilla underneath. Cook for 2-3 seconds, lift again, both tortillas, and add another tortilla underneath. Repeat the process with all the tortillas, adding a little more oil if needed. This way you can brown and soften the tortillas without using a lot of fat. You do this process to develop the flavor of the tortillas. As the tortillas brown a little, remove from the pan one by one to rest on a paper towel, which absorbs any excess fat.
2 Sauté up the chopped onion and garlic, then turn off the heat. Add 1 cup of salsa. Dissolve 3 Tbsp of tomato paste into 1 cup of water, add to pan. Add 1 cup of crushed fire roasted canned tomatoes. Taste. If the sauce tastes too vinegary, add a teaspoon of sugar.
3 Put some olive oil on the bottom of a large casserole pan. Take a tortilla, cover 2/3 of it lightly with the shredded cheese, then roll up the tortilla and place it in the casserole pan. Continue until all tortillas are filled and rolled. Add sauce to the top of the tortillas in the the casserole pan. Make sure all are covered with the sauce. If not, add a little water. Cover the whole thing with the rest of the grated cheese. Put the casserole in the oven for 10 minutes or until the cheese melts.
4 Garnish with cilantro and sour cream. Serve with sliced iceberg lettuce that has been dressed only with vinegar and salt.

Mexicana Rice
Ingredients
2 tablespoons olive oil (can use up to 1/4 cup)
1 onion, chopped fine1 garlic clove, minced
2 cups of medium or long-grain white rice
3 cups* chicken stock (or vegetable stock if vegetarian)
1 heaping tablespoon tomato paste or
1 cup of diced fresh or cooked tomatoes, strainedPinch of oregano
1 teaspoon salt

Check the instructions on the rice package for the proportions of liquid to rice. They can range from 1:1 to 2:1. If your rice calls for 2 cups of water for every cup of rice, then for this recipe, use 4 cups of stock for 2 cups of rice.

Directions
1 In a large skillet brown rice in olive oil, medium/high heat. Add onion and garlic. Cook onion rice mixture, stirring frequently, about 4 minutes, or until onions are softened.
2 In a separate sauce pan bring stock to a simmer. Add tomato sauce, oregano, and salt. Add rice to broth. Bring to a simmer. Cover. Lower heat and cook 15-25 minutes, depending on the type of rice and the instructions on the rice package. Turn off heat and let sit for 5 minutes.
Serves 4 to 6.

1/2 cup shredded coconut
1/4 cup white chocolate chips
1 Twinkie
Chocolate sprinkles
Orange frosting
2 candy lemon slices

Instructions
To make a pair of nests, first spread 1/2 cup of shredded coconut on a cookie sheet and toast it under a broiler until golden brown, about 1 minute. Remove the coconut from the oven, stir it, then toast it for 30 seconds more. Repeat as needed until all of the coconut is evenly toasted, then let it cool.
Next, melt 1/4 cup of white chocolate chips in a double boiler according to the package directions. Remove the pan from the heat (keep the chocolate over the warm water) and stir in the coconut.
For the nestlings, lay a Twinkie flat on your work surface and cut it in half. Press 2 chocolate sprinkles into each half for eyes and pipe on orange frosting beaks. Let the beaks set a bit, then stand the chicks upright on waxed paper and spoon the warm coconut mixture around them, shaping it into rings. Lastly, use frosting to stick on trimmed candy lemon slices (we used Brach's) for wings.

Ingredients
Disposable clear plastic icing bags (available where cake-decorating supplies are sold; about $4 for a dozen bags)
Orange jelly beans
Scissors
Green tissue paper
Twist ties

Instructions
Fill an icing bag with orange jelly beans, leaving at least 3 inches unfilled at the top.
Cut out two 8-inch squares of green tissue paper and lay one atop the other. Pick up the squares from the center and give them a little twist so you have a cone-shaped carrot top.
Place the tissue, twisted end down, into the bag. Gather the bag at the top of the jelly beans and secure with a twist tie

Ingredients

1 cup milk chocolate chips
1 cup shredded coconut
Jelly bean eggs

Instructions
Melt the chocolate chips, following the directions on the bag. When the chocolate is smooth, stir in the coconut, then drop the mixture by the heaping tablespoon onto waxed-paper-lined cookie sheets.

While the nests are still warm, use your thumbs to poke an impression into the middle of each. Cool them, then fill with jelly bean eggs. Makes about 1 dozen.

Cookies and Cream

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 tablespoon corn syrup
1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
Whipped cream
Lemon sherbert

Instructions
In a medium bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in the egg, corn syrup, and vanilla extract. Mix in the flour a little at a time. Wrap the dough in plastic and chill it until it is firm enough to roll.

Heat the oven to 375º. Wrap 4 ovenproof custard bowls in aluminum foil. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/8-inch thickness and cut out four 6-inch circles. Turn the bowls upside down and cover each with a dough circle, trimming the edges to create a cracked eggshell effect.

Place a wire rack on top of a baking sheet, then set the inverted bowls on the rack. Bake for 15 minutes or until the cookies are light brown. Cool for 10 minutes. Then gently remove the cookies from the foil and let them cool completely.

When you're ready to serve dessert, set each shell on its side on a plate. Add a big dollop of whipped cream spilling out of the shell and top with a scoop of lemon sherbert. Makes 4 servings.

Edible Easter Basket Cupcakes

1 dozen cupcakes
1 bag jelly beans
2 cups white icing
Sweetened coconut, colored with green food coloring

Instructions
First, frost the cupcakes with white icing. Bend a pipe cleaner or a piece of red licorice into an arch and push the ends into the sides of each cupcake.
Shake the shredded coconut in a stainless steel bowl. Sprinkle on food coloring bit by bit, mixing vigorously to distribute the color
Place a pinch of shredded coconut on each iced cupcake. Now place three jelly beans on the "nest" of coconut.
Tie a small ribbon bow on the pipe cleaner or licorice handle at a jaunty angle.
Put one cupcake basket by each place setting at Easter brunch or give them as gifts.

24 mini cannoli shells, unfilled
1/2 cup M&M’S Brand Chocolate Candies
1 resealable plastic bag

Directions:
1. Finely chop 1 cup SNICKERS Bars. Combine with ricotta, sugar and orange zest.

2. Spoon mixture into resealable bag and snip off a 1/2-inch corner. Fill cannoli shells by squeezing in filling from each end. Decorate both ends with M&M’S Brand Chocolate Candies.

Ingredients

8 slices whole wheat bread
Low fat cooking spray
1 tomato (sliced)
1 cup alfalfa sprouts
4 iceberg lettuce leaves
4 1-oz slices low fat Swiss cheese
4 oz lean ham or turkey – thinly sliced
Thin pretzel sticks
Radishes, cleaned and sliced into circles

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spray cookie sheet with low fat cooking spray.
Toast 8 slices of bread and place on cookie sheet.
On four slice of bread, place 1-2 slices of tomato, and 1 oz. ham or turkey. Add 1 slice of cheese on top.
Place cookie sheet in oven for 5-10 minutes or until cheese is fully melted.
Remove cookie sheet from oven and add 1 lettuce leaf to each sandwich.
Place remaining 4 slices of bread on top of each sandwich.
Cut sandwiches into quarters and stack one on another to create double-decker sandwiches.
Skewer with thin pretzel stick (Will likely need to first poke the hole with something sharp and then insert pretzel stick to hold together).
On each plate, create train tracks by placing 2 pretzel sticks in parallel line and then places others across them as tracks and surrounding with alfalfa or bean sprouts as grass.
Place 1 "club car" on each track and serve.
Add radish slices for the wheels if you’d like!

Ingredients

1 - 4oz whole wheat bagel, cut in half
Tomato sauce
1/3 cup shredded low-fat mozzarella cheese
1/3 cup shredded low-fat cheddar cheese
Sliced black olives and an orange pepper to decorate Elmo’s face

Directions
Preheat oven to low heat (250 degrees).
Spread tomato sauce onto each half of the bagel and place on cookie sheet.
Encourage children to help sprinkle the mozzarella cheese onto the bagel to make two eyes and the cheddar cheese to make a mouth.
Place two sliced olives in the mozzarella cheese to complete the eyes. Place a nose onto each bagel using thin slices of an orange pepper.
Bake for 5 to 8 minutes. Remove from oven when the cheese is bubbly.

Ingredients

4 slices whole-wheat bread
1 tsp. cinnamon and 2 tsp. sugar, combined
2 tsp. transfat-free margarine
8 blueberries
4 slices of red apple

Directions

Toast bread.
Cut out star using cookie cutter.
Spread ½ tsp. margarine on each star.
Sprinkle each with a pinch of cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Place 2 blueberries for eyes and 1 apple slice for mouth.
*Parents should toast the bread, but kids can cut out star shapes and decorate with cinnamon-sugar, berries, and apple slice.

Sweet Heart Krispie Treats

IngredientsCooking spray
3 tablespoons margarine
6 cups mini (or 60 regular-size) marshmallows
Red food coloring
9 cups Rice Krispies cereal
Heart-shaped cookie cutter
Plastic bags, yarn

Instructions
To begin, lightly coat a 10- by 15-inch baking sheet with cooking spray and set it aside.
Melt the margarine in a large pot over low heat. Add the marshmallows, stirring them continuously until they melt. Remove the pan from the heat. Stir in drops of red food coloring until the color receives a thumbs-up from the chef.
Add the Rice Krispies, stirring until they are evenly coated with marshmallow. Spoon the mixture onto the baking sheet.
With waxed paper (or lightly buttered hands), smooth out the mixture, spreading it to an even thickness.
Cut out hearts with the cookie cutter. Place each heart in a clear plastic bag, tie on a yarn bow, and they're ready for giving. Makes seven 5-inch hearts.

A cupcake (baked from your favorite recipe)
Pink- or peach-tinted frosting
Large marshmallow
Thin pretzel stick
Crisped rice cereal (a handful)
Decorators' gel
Candy heart

Instructions
Frost a cupcake (baked from your favorite recipe) with pink- or peach-tinted frosting.
For wings, use kitchen shears to cut a large marshmallow in half vertically, then snip each half widthwise a few times for a feathery look. Press a thin pretzel stick against the sticky side of each marshmallow half, then stick the pretzels into the cupcake.
Press a handful of crisped rice cereal along the top of the cupcake for Cupid's curly locks, then add a decorators' gel mouth and eyes. Finally, set a candy heart in place and pipe on frosting fingers, if you like.

Crayon Hearts

Crayon pieces
Heart-shaped metal cookie or muffin tin (our hearts are about 1 1/2 inches across)
Scrap paper
Double-sided foam mounting tape
Scissors
Colored card stock
Marker

Instructions
Heat the oven to 250°.
Fill each mold with crayon pieces and bake until the crayons melt, about 10 to 15 minutes. Tip: Place a sheet pan under the crayons to catch any drips.
Once they're cool, remove the hearts from the molds and smooth any rough edges by rubbing them on a piece of scrap paper.

Use small pieces of foam tape to stick each heart to a 3-inch circle cut from card stock -- or use our template, then add your message.

Snip a length of wire (a parent's job) and bend it into a V shape.
String on the beads (tape the wire's cut ends first to protect smaller children).
Finish by bending the beaded wire into a heart, then twisting the ends together with the pliers.

Sweet Necklace

Plastic wrap
Scissors
Unwrapped candies
Ribbon

Instructions
Cut a strip of plastic wrap 36 inches long and 4 inches wide. Starting in the middle of the strip and working toward the ends, lay unwrapped candies 1 inch apart along the strip's center. Make your row of candies about 20 inches long.
Fold the plastic wrap around the candies and roll it up to make a long tube. Tie 3- to 4-inch lengths of ribbon between the candies and at the ends.
To form the necklace, tie together the ends of the plastic wrap and trim the excess.

1 1 / 2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

Cinnamon Sugar Blend
3 / 4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions:

MIX flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. In a small bowl, whisk the sugar, eggs and shortening; includes milk and pour the mixture with the ingredients in large bowl, stirring until evenly moistened. Knead well all over a surface. Make 20 balls of dough, cover and let stand for 30 minutes.
MIX sugar and cinnamon. With a rolling pin, flatten each ball on a lightly floured surface until very thin circles get six inches in diameter.
MELT butter to cover an inch in a large skillet and heat it to 360 ˚ F. Fry the fritters until golden, turning once, 3 to 4 minutes approx. Place on paper towel to absorb excess fat. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar when they are still hot syrup or sprinkle with cinnamon.

TIP CINNAMON SYRUP: Mix 3 / 4 teaspoon ground cinnamon with 1 / 2 cup syrup Hungry Jack ® Microwave Ready Butter Flavored Syrup heated. Drizzle over hot fritters.

2 teaspoons (10 grams) baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup (76 grams) cold unsalted butter
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup (120 ml) light whipping cream or half and half (12 - 18% butterfat)

Egg Wash:
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 tablespoon cream
Filling:
2 pounds (900 grams) fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
1/4 cup - 1/3 cup (50 - 65 grams) granulated white sugar (or to taste)
Topping:
1 cup (240 ml) heavy whipping cream
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 tablespoon (14 grams) granulated white sugar

Directions♥
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) and place rack in middle of oven. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut the butter into small pieces and blend into the flour mixture with a pastry blender or two knives. The mixture should look like coarse crumbs. Whisk together the egg, cream and vanilla extract and add to the flour mixture, mixing just until the dough comes together. Do not over mix the dough.
Transfer to a lightly floured surface and knead dough gently four or five times and then pat or roll the dough into a circle that is about 7 inches (18 cm) round and about 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick. With a 3 inch (7 cm) round cookie cutter, cut out rounds and place the scones on the baking sheet. Make an egg wash of one well-beaten egg mixed with 1 tablespoon cream and brush the tops of the scones with this mixture.
Bake for about 15 - 20 minutes or until nicely browned and a toothpick inserted in the center of a scone comes out clean. Transfer to a wire rack.
Filling: Wash and slice the strawberries. Place about one third of the strawberries in a large bowl and crush them with a potato masher or fork. Add the remaining sliced strawberries, along with the sugar. (The amount of sugar used will depend on how sweet the berries are.) Set aside to macerate at room temperature for about 30 to 60 minutes.
For whipped cream: In a large mixing bowl place the whipping cream, vanilla extract, and sugar and stir to combine. Cover and chill the bowl and beaters in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. When chilled, beat the mixture until stiff peaks form. The whipped cream will hold for several hours in the refrigerator.
To serve: Cut the scones in half and place the bottom half of the scone (soft side up) on a dessert plate. Top with some of the strawberries. Place the top half of the scone on the strawberries. Top with whipped cream and a few more strawberries. If there is any juice from the strawberries, drizzle a little over the top of the scone. Serve immediately.
Serves about 8 people.

Chocolate Fondue ♥

Strawberries,cantaloupe, figs, kiwi, pineapple, bananas, pears, oranges, and apples work very nicely. Also you can dip cakes and cookies

Ingredients:
6 ounces (170 grams) semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, cut into small pieces
1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup (60 ml) milk
2 1/2 tablespoons (35 grams) granulated white sugar
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 cup Nutella (optional)
1 tablespoon Frangelico or other liqueurs such as Grand Marnier or brandy.

Makes about 1 1/2 cups.

Directions

Place the chopped chocolate in a medium sized stainless steel bowl and set aside.
Combine the cream, milk, sugar, and corn syrup in a saucepan and place over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring often.
Remove from heat and pour immediately over the chocolate. Let stand until the chocolate has melted, then whisk until smooth.
Whisk in vanilla extract, Nutella (if using), and alcohol.
Place the chocolate sauce in a fondue pot and serve with fresh fruits, chunks of pound, butter, sponge, or angel food cake and cookies (amaretti, ladyfingers, rolled wafer cookies, or biscotti). Reheat the sauce if it becomes too thick.

Chocolate Pudding♥

Ingredients:
3/4 cup (150 grams) granulated white sugar
3 tablespoons (30 grams) cornstarch (corn flour)
1/3 cup (30 grams) Dutch-processed cocoa powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups (600 ml) milk
1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy whipping cream
4 large egg yolks
4 ounces (120 grams) semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 tablespoon (14 grams) unsalted butter, room temperature (cut into small pieces)
Garnish: Lightly sweetened whipped cream
Grated chocolate

Directions

In a large stainless steel (heatproof) bowl whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, cocoa powder, and salt. Then whisk in 1/2 cup (120 ml) of the milk until you have a thick paste. Add the egg yolks, one at a time, whisking to blend into the cocoa paste mixture. Set aside while you heat the milk and cream. Have a fine medium-sized strainer and bowl ready near the stove as you will need to strain the pudding after it is cooked.

First, rinse a medium-sized heavy saucepan with cold water and then shake out the excess water. Doing this step prevents the milk from scorching. Then pour in the remaining 2 cups (480 ml) milk with the cream. Bring this mixture just to a boil and then remove from heat. (The milk will foam up to the top of pan when done, so watch carefully.) Gradually pour the milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly, until the mixture is smooth. Transfer the pudding mixture to a clean large, heavy bottomed saucepan and place over medium-low heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens to the consistency of mayonnaise (about 3 - 5 minutes). Remove from heat and pour through the strainer to remove any lumps that may have formed during cooking.

Add the finely chopped chocolate, vanilla extract, and butter, stirring gently with a rubber spatula until the mixture is smooth. Pour into 6 to 8 bowls or wine glasses. Can serve warm or if chilling, press plastic wrap onto the surface of the warm puddings to prevent a skin from forming. If you are a person who likes the skin on their pudding, simply leave the pudding uncovered until cooled and then cover with plastic wrap. Can be made a day or two ahead of serving. No chocolate pudding is complete without whipped cream.

Cream Filled Strawberries♥

Ingredients:

16-18 large strawberries
1/3 cup mascarpone cheese
1/3 cup (80 ml) heavy whipping cream
2-3 (24-36 grams) tablespoons granulated white sugar
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

You want the strawberries to sit flat. So if they are a little wobbly with the stems left on, cut the green stems off the strawberries so they will stand upright when placed on your serving tray. With a small sharp knife, cut an "X" in each strawberry ,cutting almost to the bottom of each strawberry. (The cut should be such that the strawberry will open up but not fall apart.) Gently, with your fingertips, spread each strawberry apart to make "petals". Set aside while you make the cream filling.
In a medium sized bowl, whip the mascarpone cheese and whipping cream until soft peaks form. Add the sugar and vanilla and continue to whip until stiff peaks form.
Spoon the cream into a pastry bag fitted with a large open star tip ( usea Wilton 1M tip). Pipe the cream into the strawberries. If not serving immediately, cover, and place in the refrigerator until serving time.

Heart Pancakes♥

Ingredients

2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar (optional)
4 tsp. baking powder
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 1/2 cups plus 1 tbsp. milk (or buttermilk)
4 tbsp. butter or margarine

Instructions
Preheat griddle over moderate heat while you mix batter. Sift (with a real sifter, if possible) flour, salt, sugar and baking powder into a bowl. Combine egg, milk, and butter in a separate bowl and slowly stir into dry ingredients. Mix well so lumps won't gum up the process.

When a drop of cold water will dance on the griddle, begin cooking. To make a "pen," funnel the batter into a squeeze bottle with a hole in the cap, such as a clean chocolate syrup container. On the griddle, shape the hearts one lobe at a time. They're really just a V shape, which spreads out into a heart on the griddle. You can also write secret messages or your child's initials. Top with fresh berries and maple syrup. Makes 24 pancakes.

For a perfectly shaped heart, make regular round pancakes and cut them out with a heart-shaped cookie cutter.

Ingredients

3 cups flour
2 teaspoons cocoa powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter, room temperature
2-1/4 cups sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 eggs, room temperature
2 tablespoons red food coloring
1-1/2 cups buttermilk
1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1-1/2 teaspoons vinegar
1 package Baker’s Chocolate Dipping Sauce

Cooking Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder and salt; set aside.
In large mixing bowl, beat butter on medium speed for 30 seconds. Add sugar and vanilla and beat until combined.

Add eggs one at a time, beating on medium after each egg.
Add food coloring and beat on low until mixed thoroughly.
Alternate flour mixture and buttermilk to egg mixture; beat on medium-low after each until combined.
Mix baking soda and vinegar in a separate small bowl. Add mixture to the batter; beat until combined.
Fill cupcake liners 1/2 to 3/4 full. Bake for 10-15 minutes; remove from oven and let cool.
While cupcakes are baking, melt dipping sauce according to package directions.
Drizzle melted sauce over cupcakes; serve immediately.

Chocolate Candy Hearts

Give this candy heart craft away as a gift or enjoy it for yourself!

What you'll need:

Plastic heart-shaped candy mold
Red, white and cocoa colored candy melts
Sandwich bags (zipper, not pleated)
Scissors
Spoon
Wax paper
Plate
Wooden skewer or clean craft paint brush

How to make it:
Put a handful of candy melts into an open zipper sandwich bag.
Microwave candy in bag for 30-40 seconds or until melted.
Cut one corner of the bag with scissors to squeeze melted candy through.
Caution: Bag may be hot, so use paper towel or a pot holder to handle it.
Gently squeeze chocolate out of bag and into the molds.
Tap the side of the mold tray to knock out any air bubbles and flatten chocolate.
Place in refrigerator until set.
Pop out of molds and serve.

Decorating

Polka dots - Use the flat end of a wooden skewer or a clean craft paint brush to dip into melted chocolate. Dot onto molds, then refrigerate. Remove mold from refrigerator when solid, then add contrasting color according to directions above.

Drizzles - Use a spoon to drizzle melted chocolate across the molds by sweeping a spoon back and forth and allowing chocolate to fall in streams. Refrigerate until solid. Add contrasting color according to directions above.

3D Drizzles - Use the spoon method above, however this time drizzle the chocolate over solid candy that you have already made and let set, rather than drizzling into the molds.

Dear Kids

Thank you for writing such a wonderful letter! We have had a great year at the North Pole. The reindeer have been playing reindeer games to get in shape for the long trip Christmas Eve, and the elves have been busy getting my sleigh packed with lots and lots of toys.

Once my sleigh is packed and ready to go, I'll be off on my journey around the world. I'm reading your letter right now, and it looks like you've been a very nice boy this year. That makes me so happy. Keep up the good work!

While you are asleep on Christmas Eve, the reindeer will quietly land my sleigh so I can tiptoe into your home.

I see that you like trains. Trains are one of my favorite toys. I just love to watch the steam engine and caboose go around and around the train track. Someday I'm going to take the reindeer for a train ride. The reindeer could ride in the passenger cars! The elves have been very busy this year making many new and different trains for Christmas!

Oh, the elves are calling me so I must go now. They probably need me to check my toy list to make sure we have all the toys packed. Don't worry, we'll be ready for the big trip!

Ingredients:
1 envelope (1 lb or 1.5 oz or 490 g) Betty Crocker sugar cookie mix
1 / 3 cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons flour Multi Gold Medal
1 egg
36 candy canes
2 packages (1 lb) of frosting Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy white or vanilla
How to prepare:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F or 180 ° C. Place wax paper on top of the cookie trays. In a medium bowl, whisk the biscuit mix, butter, flour and eggs, to form a thick dough.
On a floured surface, spread the dough with a rolling pin until it is 1 / 8 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters with Christmas themes 3 to 3 and 1 / 2 inches in diameter. Put them in a ungreased pan with an inch apart.

1 box of Betty Crocker SuperMoist white cake mix. View basic ingredients and preparation on the back of the package.

2 candy canes.
2 cones of ice cream, with a flat tip.
1 box vanilla sweet almond (almond bark) or white chocolate, melted.
1 package Betty Crocker Rich and Creamy Vanilla Frosting.
2 and 2 / 3 cups shredded coconut.
5 black and orange jelly beans, large, black jelly beans and 7 girls.
1 roll of sweet Betty Crocker
Fruit by the Foot chewy fruit snack (red).
2 cookies filled chocolate.
1 candy black liquor (Licorice).
2 strips pretzel.

How to prepare:
Preheat oven to 350 ° F and follow the instructions on the back of the package for mixing and baking.

1 package (1 lb) of frosting (coverage) Betty Crocker Whipped Fluffy white frosting
Gomita shaped red string (licorice)
Assorted Color Candy
How to prepare:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a medium bowl, add the biscuit mix, butter, flour, flour and egg. Whisk with a spatula until it forms a soft dough. Put them in a tablespoon size in a tray or baking sheet (if you want a ball and press them with the bottom of a glass after this sugar). They must be separated from each other by 1 inch in diameter.
2. Bake 7 to 9 minutes or until lightly browned at edges. Let them cool a minute in the pan and then transfer them to a cookie rack.

Red string licorice
Canned frosting (optional)

Directions
1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat. 2. Add KELLOGG'S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.3. Divide warm mixture in half. Using buttered hands shape each portion into 12-inch candy cane. Wrap licorice around canes for stripes. Secure licorice with frosting, if desired. Best if served the same day.MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS:In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Follow steps 2 and 3 above. Microwave cooking times may vary.

Deck the halls biscotti

1 3/4 cups DOVE Brand Milk or Dark Chocolate
16 of your favorite biscotti
¾ cup M&M’S Brand Chocolate Candies
2 baking sheets Reynolds Parchment Paper
1. Melt the chocolate in a bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water. Stir until chocolate is 3/4 melted. Remove from water and continue stirring until all the chocolate has melted.
2. Using a table knife, spread half the biscotti with the DOVE Brand Milk or Dark Chocolate and set it on the baking sheet lined with Reynolds® Parchment Paper. Sprinkle with M&M’SBrand Chocolate Candies and set aside until the chocolate hardens.

5 pieces DOVE Milk Chocolate; reserve one for shavings
1 cup espresso
2 tablespoons whipped cream
2 ounces Cognac, optional
Melt 4 DOVE Milk Chocolates with coffee and pour into small cups. Add Cognac, if desired. Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
